Rami Elghandour

Rami Elghandour is the Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Arcellx (NASDAQ: ACLX), a clinical-stage biotechnology company developing transformative immunotherapies for the treatment of cancer and autoimmune diseases. Appointed in January 2021, Mr. Elghandour transformed Arcellx from a small, early-stage startup into a leading, commercial-ready organization, advancing the company's lead candidate anito-cel (anitocabtagene autoleucel), a BCMA-directed CAR T-cell therapy for multiple myeloma. Under his leadership, Arcellx went public in 2022 and achieved a peak valuation exceeding $6 billion, culminating in the announcement of Gilead Sciences' acquisition of Arcellx for $7.8 billion in February 2026.
Prior to Arcellx, Mr. Elghandour served as President and Chief Executive Officer of Nevro Corp., a medical technology company and leader in the neuromodulation field. Joining Nevro in 2012 as President and rising to President and CEO in June 2016, he grew the company from a 30-person private startup to a nearly 1,000-person public company approaching $400 million in revenue. During his tenure, he led Nevro's successful IPO in 2014, raised over $700 million through venture capital, IPO, and follow-on public markets, advanced three successful registration studies, and orchestrated a product launch generating $320 million in sales in just 3.5 years. Nevro's valuation increased over 15x under his leadership.
Earlier in his career, Mr. Elghandour served as Principal of Venture Investments at Johnson & Johnson Development Corporation (JJDC), where he led several investments including Nevro's $58 million Series B financing, served on over 10 boards of directors, and worked on strategic initiatives and M&A for Johnson & Johnson. He began his career as a Design Engineer at Advanced Neuromodulation Systems, where he led firmware design and development for several implantable spinal cord stimulators and holds two U.S. patents for implantable wireless communication devices.
Mr. Elghandour has led two successful IPOs, built two multibillion-dollar public companies, and raised more than $1.75 billion in capital throughout his career. He earned recognition as an EY Entrepreneur of the Year in 2017, has been named one of the top CEOs in the United States, and is recognized as a top CEO for women and diversity. He is a recipient of the Bill Campbell Award from Watermark for his influence, impact, and advocacy in promoting women and women's issues, and the Game Changer Male Ally Award from Diversity Woman Magazine. Mr. Elghandour is also a TEDx speaker on unconscious bias and serves on nonprofit boards supporting education, gender equity, and humanitarian causes.
